The new EMC directive was implemented some time ago, but did you know that the transitional period for declaring conformity towards the old directive ended on July 20th 2009?

The new EMC directive (2004/108/EC) came into force on July 20th 2007, and is mandatory to be able to put the CE mark products that contain electronics.
A transitional period of 2 years was granted for products that were already available on the market, to give the manufacturers time to implement the requirements in the new directive. During this period, manufacturers were allowed to declare conformity towards the old EMC directive (89/336/EEC) and still have the CE mark on their products.
ALL products that are covered by the directive, both new and those already on the market, must hence from July 21st declare conformity towards the requirements in the new version.
Is your product compliant with the new version of the directive?
DNV will help you through the process of identifying the implications of the new directive on your product, including relevant standards and specifications.
Certification options:- If you hold an existing certificate based on the old directive (89/336/EEC), DNV can assist with an upgrade towards the new directive (2004/108/EC).
- If your product is new and/or about to be introduced on the market, DNV can perform the certification directly towards the new directive.
