The BSL3 facility certification process involves three main activities:
1. Desktop review
An initial step to ensure the BSL3 facility has been designed and constructed with appropriate and predetermined guidelines. This activity allows all information is readily available prior to audit itself.
2. On site certification audit
Each BSL3 laboratory would require on-site audit and the audit will carried out in three methods:
(i) On site independent testing
(ii) Interviewing relevant personnel
(iii) Review of records (validation and commissioning records)
3. Audit findings
Findings of the on-site BSL3 facility certification audit will be reported under the following categories:
• Conformity
• Non-Conformity
• Observations
• Opportunity for Improvements
A certificate of conformity will only be issued on satisfactory close out of identified non-conformities, and satisfactory response on the intended actions for observations.
