1. Rule chapter with main changes

Pt.0 Ch.1 User Information, Current Rule Chapters and Index
Main changes coming into force 1 January 2011

As of October 2010 all DNV service documents are primarily published electronically. For DNV Rules for Classification of Ships and High Speed, Light Craft and Naval Surface Craft, this was implemented already in July 2010 and they were then also made available for free as pdf files through http://www.dnv.com. At the same time, the electronic pdf versions of the documents found through the same site are the officially binding versions.

Given the free access to the Rules, the request for printed versions of the Rules is now insignificant. Accordingly, as from January 2011, the current print service will be discontinued.

The “Amendments and corrections” section in this document, which intention was to supply buyers of printed documents with a detailed view of “amendments” to the documents applicable after issued in print, is therefore considered superfluous. In order to ensure a practical transition in removing the “Amendments and corrections” document, all documents that have incorporated amendments and corrections more recent than the date of the latest printed issue, have been given the date January 2011.

Updates and amendments to rules will still be explained in more detail on page 2 of each document and a summary of all these changes will be published separately on the same internet site as the rules.

All information in this chapter regarding printing has been amended and deleted as relevant, ref. the above.

In Sec.1 C and D (previous Sec.2 C and D), information regarding other issues than the Rules, that are meant for information only, has been deleted or amended to simplify updating of these parts.
