Pt.2 Ch.3 Fabrication and Testing of Structures

Main changes coming into force 1 July 2009

General

  • Throughout the chapter, the wording “IACS members” has been changed to “classification society”.

Sec.6 Fabrication and Tolerances

  • Item G301 has been modified in order to replace the class notations PLUS-1 and PLUS-2 with the class notation PLUS (tentative rules since January 2008).

Pt.4 Ch.4 Rotating Machinery, Power Transmission

Significant editorial changes adopted July 2009 and taking effect immediately

Sec.1 Shafting

  • In item E301, the list-item reading “where one interchangeable sensor is fitted one spare sensor shall be stored on board”, has been deleted
  • Item F105 concerning rope guard requirements, has been deleted.
Pt.4 Ch.5 Rotating Machinery, Driven Units

  • Item B203 concerning rope guard requirements, has been deleted.

Pt.5 Ch.4 Crew Boats

Main changes coming into force 1 January 2010

Sec.5 Fire Safety

  • The previous sub-section 4 D - Fire Safety has been deleted and replaced by a new Sec.5 - Fire Safety. The safety level will however remain unchanged.
  • Clarifications have been made with regard to requirements for structural fire protection, escape ways, detection, extinguishing system and ventilation, making the rule-text more in line with how the rules have been applied for the past years.
Pt.5 Ch.6 Patrol Boats

Main changes coming into force 1 January 2010

Sec.5 Fire Safety

  • The previous sub-section 4 C - Fire Safety has been deleted and replaced by a new Sec.5 - Fire Safety. The safety level will however remain unchanged. Previous Sec.5 is renumbered Sec.6.
  • Clarifications have been made with regard to requirements for structural fire protection, escape ways, detection, extinguishing system and ventilation, making the rule-text more in line with how the rules have been applied for the past years.
Pt.7 Ch.1 Survey Requirements

Main changes coming into force 1 July 2009

Sec.7 Alternative Survey Arrangements

  • A new item A103 has been introduced covering owner’s obligations for retention of class.
  • Sub-section element C100 has been changed in order to aligned with the new sub-section element C200.
  • Sub-section element C200 “Machinery PMS (Planned Maintenance System) requirements” has been rewritten in order to account for feedback on improvements from the industry and surveyors.
