No simple solution

The Earth is getting warmer. We’re all aware of it, and we’re also aware that there is no simple solution to be found. The solution is a range of measures; an energy technology revolution. DNV is engaged in most parts of this revolution.

Re-energizing energy

Nobuo Tanaka, executive director of the International Energy Agency, sees boundless business opportunities for companies involved in cutting CO2 emissions, and those developing technology for improved energy efficiency.

Small is beautiful

Small is beautiful and is certainly an option. With the world now looking for supplies of natural gas, attention has to be focused on the small and medium-sized gas fields.

Due diligence offers banks peace of mind

The easiest way for a bank to ensure that a company investing in an LNG project is able to repay credit, is to perform a due diligence investigation into the feasibility of a company’s role in the project.

Bringing trust back to frozen food

Leading Japanese frozen food producer Katokichi has responded with force to the nationwide food scandals that has troubled Japan recently. The company is leaving no stone unturned to find solutions to improve their food safety management and rebuild customer trust.

Local taste champion

Rieber’s Toro factory outside Bergen in Norway manufactures 700,000 packets of soup, sauce and other quality food a day. This well established company puts quality, food safety and local taste at the top of its agenda.

Striving to move higher up the shipbuilding league table

Vietnam is endeavouring to reach its goal of becoming one of the world’s leading shipbuilding nations. There has already been substantial investment in modern shipbuilding equipment and practices, and orders worth USD billions have been secured.

Collaboration with VIMARU and VINASHIN

Collaboration between Vietnamese and Norwegian interests aims to enhance competency and capacity within Vietnam’s maritime, offshore and shipbuilding sectors.

MAN for the future

Despite the global financial turbulence, the order books have never been fuller. 250-year-old MAN Diesel expects to grow until 2015 and then to level off at a high level.

Beyond compliance with Ericsson

Global companies are heading toward a paradigm shift beyond pure compliance, believes Harald Stubert, head of operational assessment and certification at Ericsson.

Impressive towers

Towering 65 meters above water with a rotor diameter of 80 meters, StatoilHydro’s planned Hywind offshore floating wind turbine – the first ever of its kind – will be impressive in size.

Biorisk – a global issue

The management of biosafety and biosecurity (collectively know as biorisk) have become a vital global issue, especially in light of the laboratory-acquired cases of SARS in Singapore, Taiwan and China in 2004.

Moving into position

Right technology, right competence, and right timing are just some of the key elements initiating a series of seismic vessel orders for Dubai-based owner Polarcus. The newly formed company has developed an advanced seismic vessel based on a novel ship design to be classed by DNV.

Let’s dance the carbon waltz

There is no point of return. First we must capture it before it rushes off into the atmosphere, then move it to a suitable location before storing it for hundreds of years. I am, of course, speaking about CO2, the biggest environmental challenge ever.
