Oslo/Paris: DNV Business Assurance recently entered into partnership with ETHIC Intelligence, a highly-reputed provider of anti-corruption certification. Through this partnership, DNV Business Assurance can now offer reliable, quality certification of anti-corruption programs.
“Working proactively to reduce the risk of corruption is on the agenda in small and large companies. Having a certified, robust anti-corruption policy proves that you have taken important steps towards preventing corruption. We are proud that ETHIC Intelligence has chosen us as one of their inspection partners, and are pleased to contribute in the certification process,” says Thomas Vogth-Eriksen, CEO of DNV Business Assurance.
ETHIC Intelligence has issued certification of anti-corruption programs since 2006. The terms of reference developed by ETHIC Intelligence encompass major anti-corruption conventions, legislation, best practices, guidance and recommendations from governments and international organisations. ETHIC Intelligence is headed by Philippe Montigny, former member of the OECD Office of the Secretary-General involved in the negotiations leading to the OECD Anti-corruption Convention.
“Given DNV’s long-standing experience in certification as well as its reputation for excellence, we are certain that the quality for which ETHIC Intelligence certification is recognised will be maintained throughout this partnership,” says Mr. Montigny.
DNV Business Assurance has already trained and qualified a number of auditors to the ETHIC Intelligence certification methodology, and is ready to provide audits worldwide to customers starting today.
DNV Business Assurance will audit companies with regards to the specific requirements set out in the ETHIC Intelligence certification terms of reference and methodology. The ETHIC Intelligence certification committee, composed of distinguished anti-corruption experts worldwide, then reviews audit reports and awards or denies certificates based on the material provided. DNV Business Assurance will also be involved in annual monitoring to ensure continuous compliance with requirements.
Companies having implemented solid anti-corruption programs mitigate their corruption-related financial and reputational risk. Certification of such programs not only increases visibility and credibility of anti-corruption commitments, but also provides standard target objectives and support for internal communications and management. Additionally, recent case law demonstrates that judicial authorities take into account certification as proof of best efforts.
