Nanjing, China: DNV has officially opened a new office in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province. This new development in China demonstrates DNV’s long-term commitment to supporting the Chinese fast-growing economy with state-of–the-art risk management services.

The new office was opened by Norwegian Commercial Consul Kari Bjornaas and DNV Vice President and Regional Manager Bjorn K. Haugland.
“Establishing a new district in west China, managed from this new office in Nanjing, is an important step in our strategy of supporting the shipyards, shipowners and manufacturers in this area more, better and faster in the future. It is also a commitment to continuing the good relations we already have and an appreciation of the strong support we have received over the years,” said Mr Haugland.
Nanjing, with its strategic location, convenient infrastructure and developed economy, is a natural choice as the District Office for the DNV West China District.
The West District covers the majority of Jiangsu Province, including the port cities of Zhangjiagang, Jiangyin, Wuxi, Jingjiang, Yangzhou, Zhenjiang and Nanjing, and follows the Yangtze river upstream to Chongqing and Sichuan.
A large number of shipyards, such as CSSC Chengxi, Yangzijiang, New Century, Jiangdu, Dayang, Kou’an, Jinling, Wujiazui, Wuchang and Qingshan are in this territory. There are also marine equipment manufacturers, particularly in Wuhan, and ship repairers in this district.
DNV’s District Manager for West China, JG Tang, said at the opening: “By establishing this Nanjing office, we want to move closer to our customers and provide more professional services. We believe that multi-level communication and close cooperation are key to success. This will also be the fundamental principle for the operation of DNV’s Nanjing Office.
