New York: DNV will today receive the Norwegian American Trade Award for 2006. The award will be presented to CEO Henrik O. Madsen by Oivind Lorentzen, who is a member of the Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce (NACC) National Board of Directors.

DNV has maintained a presence in New York since 1868 and established its first New York office over 100 years ago. Through its vision of safeguarding life, property and the environment, and by supporting important industries and ultimately affecting the lives of end-users, DNV has achieved wide respect in the US.
“I can think of no company that better represents what Norway stands for in the protection of life, property and the environment,” states Oivind Lorentzen before tonight’s event in New York City.
The Norwegian American Trade Award is presented by the Norwegian American Chamber of Commerce as a symbol of excellence to a Norwegian-related company that has demonstrated extraordinary courage and success in business.
The award moreover recognizes exemplary accomplishment in developing, promoting and expanding trade investment between Norway and the United States, dedication to quality, innovation, marketing and distribution, and a commitment to business integrity and community service.
Previous Recipients of the Trade Award, which has been awarded on a periodic basis since 1996, include Norsk Hydro ASA, Statoil Marketing & Trading (US), Alpharma, Norseland and Laerdal Medical Corporation.
At tonight’s event, the NACC will also salute the Norwegian Immigration Association’s Peer Gynt-New York Project, which has brought Henrik Ibsen's masterpiece to a New York audience.
