“By opening the new office in the Washington D.C. area, we are first and foremost reinforcing our position in the US as a dedicated partner that provides local support to its customers,” says DNV’s CEO Henrik O. Madsen, adding that he has high expectations for DNV’s new concept to improve the way businesses manage their critical information flow.

“The new service concept is run by the Information Quality Management (IQM) group, which supports our existing business of safeguarding life, property and the environment,” he explains.

Promoting best practises, tools, methods and standards to control the quality of data and information, the IQM service concept will help companies to safeguard their information assets. In this way, customers will be able to take full advantage of the benefits of the digital age and improve their competitiveness.

Major cost driver
Insufficient management combined with a poor quality of information flow represents one of the major cost drivers for companies and government organizations. Estimates indicate that the information handling of large physical assets such as defense systems and oil rigs tends to exceed construction costs. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act and new European laws require enterprises to manage their business critical information with sufficient clarity.

“We believe Information Quality Management may be the answer,” says Henrik O. Madsen.

DNV’s IQM group of specialists serves the defense, oil and gas, maritime, government and financial service sectors.
