Agbami Field offshore Nigeria

This is the second Independent Verification Agent (IVA) / Independent Competent Body (ICB) contract awarded to DNV for this large West African oil field. The scope of work covers comprehensive third-party verification relating to the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of subsea wellheads, subsea manifolds and topside controls. DNV’s contract is with FMC Technologies AG, which is subsea equipment vendor to the operator, Star Deep Water Petroleum Limited.

Located about 70 kilometres offshore in the central areas of the Niger delta, the field will be developed by subsea-completed production and injection wells connected to a Floating Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) facility through a system of subsea manifolds, flowlines and risers. Treated and stabilised crude oil will be periodically offloaded from the FPSO to tankers.

As an independent third party, DNV has been chosen to provide all relevant third-party verification services, including:

  • design and engineering reviews
  • qualification testing activities
  • quality control inspections
  • system assessments
  • welding procedure reviews

DNV will also be responsible for the verification of safety-critical elements.
