CIBIT is today a recognised brand in its home market and the acquisition of CIBIT is part of DNV’s IT Risk Management growth strategy.

“DNV is a leading provider of risk management services, including IT risk management. Our differentiation in the European IT market lies in the risk-based approach to our IT service offering. Failure of IT systems may lead to catastrophic events, critical business consequences or severe information security leaks. We therefore concentrate our efforts on safety and reliability of systems and software, information security and efficient IT service management. DNV identified CIBIT as being an excellent fit with our strategy,” says Ola Sannes, Project Manager for the IT Risk Management business build in DNV Consulting.

“We look forward to joining the international DNV organisation as its risk based approach to solving business critical challenges go hand in hand with CIBIT’s existing vision and values. Our clients gain access to an international base of expertise. DNV provides our company with a platform to expand our unique consulting and education services internationally,” says Johan den Biggelaar, Managing Director of CIBIT.

CIBIT has specific in-depth expertise in IT architecture, software engineering and quality, information management and knowledge management. Competence ranges from strategic issues with regards to knowledge and learning to IT-architecture, necessary to realise effective support of business processes.

CIBIT’s expertise is widely recognised in the market. Its blue chip client base, primarily consisting of the top 100 companies and government agencies in The Netherlands, Belgium and the UK, underlines this. CIBIT was established in 1988 and is located in Bilthoven in the Netherlands.

More than 400 employees work with IT-related services in DNV, in addition to 100 consultants in Q-Labs, a software process improvement firm where DNV is the majority owner. This accounts for close to eight per cent of DNV’s staff, illustrating DNV’s depth of IT competence. The acquisition in December 2005 of Tireno Innovations, a provider of IT management services based in Hamburg, Germany, is also part of the IT Risk Management growth strategy. Further acquisitions are planned for 2006/2007.
