Tireno Innovations AG, established in 2000 and based in Hamburg, has a strong broad service portfolio within IT Management, working in sectors such as telecommunications, media, retail, banks, finance, transportation and utilities.

Tireno will strengthen DNV’s Consulting business. DNV Consulting offers a broad range of risk management services, including IT risk management. The combined expertise of DNV and Tireno will offer the market the full range of IT risk management services, delivering the objective of managing systems and software safely and responsibly.

Managing risk in systems and software
As failure of IT systems can lead to disruption of critical business processes, security breaches, and much more, the ability to manage the risks of information and communication technology is crucial.

“Tireno and DNV are ideally suited to meet market demand for developing and implementing IT processes and systems to optimise customer business processes in a cost-efficient manner with the required business continuity and reliability,” says Iain Light, Chief Operating Officer of DNV Consulting. He continues: “The Tireno service offering forms a strong platform on which to build the future DNV service offering in Germany. This also builds on DNV’s software related services offered by Q-Labs, a software process improvement firm where DNV is the majority owner.”

Over the years, DNV has built a foundation of knowledge and experience within IT risk management that has come from extensive use of IT-systems, as well as close co-operation with customers and partners in multiple IT-intensive projects. More than 400 employees work with IT-related services in DNV, in addition to 100 consultants in Q-Labs. This accounts for close to eight % of DNV’s staff.

Stephan Pohlman, Managing Director, Tireno says: “There are exciting synergies in this relationship. Our service offering fits well with DNV’s IT Risk Management offering and we operate in many of the same market sectors. In addition we share the same objectives and values. Minimising IT risks will be one of the major challenges to enterprises in the future. Together with DNV, we are able to help our clients master these challenges.”

The acquisition of Tireno is part of DNV’s growth strategy in the IT Risk Management area.
