DNV Certification has entered into an agreement to develop and deliver tools and services related to PMI’s project management maturity model OPM3®. This model is applicable to all organisations engaging in project management activities.

"This is one of the biggest DNV Certification contracts ever and unique in the sense that it is a global partnership for launching a complete range of new services. DNV is the sole and exclusive provider of these services globally for the next three years. In addition, the services will be co-branded together with PMI, creating a powerful brand platform to build from," says Richard Stolk, project director for DNV Certification.

What is OPM3
The Organizational Project Management Maturity Models (OPM3), launched in 2003, is designed to help organizations align strategic project goals and help them understand their organizational project management maturity. OPM3 also provides guidance to help organizations plan projects to improve their maturity while conserving resources.

To further strengthen the standard and its acceptance in the market, PMI will launch OPM3 ProductSuite in 2006. This is a full set of complementary ancillary products and services, comprising three main elements: Certifications, Tools, and Services. A joined webportal is now in operation and please visit www.OPM3ProductSuite.com for more detailed information.

Driving business improvements
"OPM3 ProductSuite can help organizations, regardless of their industry or service, to become more productive," said Gregory Balestrero, PMI's Chief Executive Officer. "By providing organizations with the capability to measure and assess the status of ongoing projects throughout the enterprise, and better understand how these projects align with the organization's strategy, we're giving them the tools to drive overall business improvement and gain competitive advantage."

OPM3 ProductSuite will be delivered exclusively to the market by DNV as of January 2006. In 2006, OPM3 ProductSuite is targeted to be marketed primarily in the US, Canada, the UK, Benelux, Sweden, Australia and New Zealand. Other countries will be added soon to this roll-out plan.

Getting better value
OPM3 ProductSuite will be offered primarily to consultants and consultancy firms that work with companies to assess and improve project management maturity within the organisations. In addition, OPM3 ProductSuite will be offered to key personnel who are dealing with organisational project management maturity issues within their own organisations. The new products and services will increase assessors’ and consultants’ ability to help organisations achieve the greatest value from the OPM3 Standard.

"For DNV, the alliance with PMI is strategically important on a worldwide basis. Because we are able to deliver all the elements of OPM3 ProductSuite, DNV can provide a faster, more comprehensive approach and access to the global market. In addition we are globally recognized for our expertise in assessment, training and certification," says Richard Stolk.
