Houston: isrs7 has been developed as a Joint Industry Project between DNV and partners from the nuclear, chemical and petrochemicals industries worldwide. It is a system for measuring, improving and demonstrating safety, environmental and business performance.

“No fads, no trends, no buzzwords – just good management directly improving our business results,” that has been the industry’s position in the Joint Industry Project. isrs7 is designed to do just that, and as one industry representative says: “We have an obligation to make sure our employees are safe, and through a systematic approach to safety we also monitor loss control and involve all employees and managers in the process.”
The world’s best system
“Meeting the changing expectations of multiple stakeholders is increasingly becoming critical for an organisation’s success. Excellent business processes are essential to meeting these expectations. Hence the need for efficient tools to measure, improve and demonstrate performance. We believe isrs7 is nothing less but the world’s best system to do just that,” says Eric Pape, director in DNV Consulting.
Particularly the nuclear industry, with its extreme demands to demonstrate safety, has been using isrs7 actively, because of its transparent nature and inherent tools for continuous improvement.
Oil and gas industry
With increased scrutiny of the oil and gas industry, and exploration into deeper waters and more commercially and technically challenging environments, the need for an objective assessment of overall management systems becomes apparent. isrs7 can be implemented in both large and small oil and gas companies with a wide variety of production systems. The methodology can be customized and at the same time the safety rating makes it transparent and uniform.
isrs7 is based on the long established International Safety Rating System (ISRS). DNV’s ISRS is a system which helps companies establish, develop and improve management systems. The 6th edition of ISRS was developed in 1994. isrs7 brings ISRS up-to-date in terms of the latest management system thinking. It draws on DNV’s international experience with world leaders over the past decade.
