Following the final inspection of the Skiing World Championships held in Val di Fiemme, DNV can state that the games were an environmental success.

All of 50% of the waste created by the championships was recycled. The arranger had 20 staff working to ensure that the championships took care of the environment so that the valley could be handed back to its inhabitants in the same condition as before the World Championships.
In order to maintain the high environmental standard, the local authorities have decided to continue to be certified by DNV. "That makes us very happy," says Zeno Beltrami in DNVs Milan office, which carried out the certification.
Turin Olympics
DNV is now targeting a similar assignment for the Turin Olympics in 2006. This assigment will involve activity in 22 arenas compared to three at Val di Fiemme. Already, 10 employees on the organisation committee are working full-time planning the environmental work for the games.
An observer for the organisation committee in 2006 followed DNV around on its final inspection in Val di Fiemme, securing useful experience for the coming Turin event.
