In line with DNV tradition, Henrik O. Madsen formally took over as the tenth CEO at the DNV Council meeting that took place at Høvik 8 May. The DNV Council expressed its gratitude to Miklos Konkoly-Thege for his dedication and commitment for two decades, the last four years as CEO.

Madsen. “Under Miklos Konkoly-Theges leadership, DNV has realised ambitious goals through strong commitment and dedication. DNV’s annual growth within core business is now 15%, and we have a financial strength that gives DNV a significant freedom of action to meet our objective. Our goal is clear – to become the world’s leading organisation in safeguarding life, property and the environment,” says Henrik O. Madsen.
New Executive Board – and organisation
A new Executive Board headed by Henrik O. Madsen will drive the process to reach the strategic goals.
DNV Maritime
DNV Maritime will continue with no major changes to the strategy, and with Tor E. Svensen as Chief Operating Officer (COO). The level of activity in DNV Maritime is very high, based on a quality brand, good market position and sound financial performance. Focus will be on delivering quality services, Tor E.Svensen will in addition take up the responsibility as Deputy CEO.
DNV Energy
DNV Energy is a new Business Area, focusing on oil and gas companies in both upstream and downstream sectors, electricity producers, pipeline companies, process industry, and their subcontractors and suppliers, in addition to investors and authorities. Remi Eriksen coming from DNV Consulting, is the new COO. DNV Energy shall grow significantly in the plan period. Activities in Arctic areas, renewable energy and reduction of greenhouse gas emission are priorities on the environmental side.
DNV Industry is a Business Area that will deliver certification, assessment and risk management services, headed by COO Peter Bjerager coming from Corporate Technology. DNV Industry will have two focus areas: to maintain and further develop the position of DNV as one of the world’s three leading conformity assessment bodies, and to develop one or two industry sectors into new separate business areas for DNV.
DNV ICT Risk Management
DNV ICT Risk Management is a new Business Area enabling DNV to give high priority to the integrity and reliability of business and safety critical IT-systems and software. DNV ICT Risk Management is headed by COO Annie Combelles, who is presently CEO of Q-labs.
In the initial phase, the main geographical focus will be on Western Europe, but the first establishment in China will take place already during 2006.
Corporate staff functions strengthened
Finance, Legal and Process Excellence are main areas of responsibility for the new Chief Financial Officer, Jostein Furnes from DNV Maritime. As CFO, his main focus will be to facilitate growth and the development of process excellence. Jostein Furnes’ areas of responsibility include finance, controllership, process excellence, legal, IT systems and services and corporate risk management.
Human Resources, Competence and SHE is headed by Cecilie B. Heuch from DNV Learning. Realising that the fight for talent is among the most important factors that can limit future growth, Cecilie B. Heuch and her staff will increase the focus on attraction and retention of talent.
