Paris: A new DNV office is today opened in Paris. Paris is an important hub for the oil and gas industry, mainly for Europe and West Africa, and the office is of course an important vehicle for establishing closer relationships with the major French players.

Some 40 guests were gathered in the new office in the Areva Tower, centrally located in La Défense, Paris, with Total and Technip as its closest neighbours.

We see Paris becoming an increasingly important centre for offshore-related business, with the major companies – Total, Technip, Saipem, Stolt Offshore, Doris and Gaz de France – all located there,” said Elisabeth Harstad, COO of DNV Technology Services at the cermony.

Over the past couple of years, DNV has developed business operations with French offshore companies, and is currently involved in several of the deepwater development projects in West Africa.

According to Elisabeth Harstad, the qualification of new technology, verification, specialist analysis and assessments of deep water installations are DNV’s main activities for this market.

“Our expertise, technical standards, tools and experience developed through many years of involvement with worldwide offshore projects are well recognised and accepted by the industry. Cooperation with several of the companies has also been established in technology development projects in both the deepwater and LNG sectors,” she said.
