DNV Consulting USA has been awarded a contract with Fluor Enterprises Inc to provide two critical HSE studies for a new grass-root refinery in Kuwait. Fluor is currently undertaking the front-end engineering and design of the refinery for the Kuwait National Petroleum Company.

The two HSE studies that DNV will undertake are an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and a Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA). These studies will be used to achieve a regulatory permit from the Kuwait Environmental Protection Authority.

The EIA will be managed and executed by DNV Consulting UK, with contributions from specialist subcontractors in Kuwait relating to, for example, the collection and analysis of environmental samples and ecological studies.

The QRA will be managed and executed by DNV Consulting USA in Houston. The studies will be delivered by the end of January 2006.
