DNV has executed its emergency and contingency plan to provide continuous services following the disaster throughout the U.S. Gulf Coast due to Hurricane Katrina.

According to Blaine Collins, Vice President and Regional Manager of North & South America, “DNV addressed its first priority; the safety of our employees, by evacuating all employees in advance of Katrina’s tragic strike and confirming that all employees from our New Orleans, Louisiana and Mobile, Alabama offices are safe. Most employees were evacuated to Houston, Texas and our systems and procedures will allow us to continue serving our customers in the U.S. Gulf Coast, coordinated via our Houston office.”
He confirmed that communications and computer networks were already in place in Houston and fully functional.
DNV offices in New Orleans and Mobile will be closed for an undeterminable time and Blaine Collins indicated that DNV is monitoring the local conditions continuously, noting that travel and logistics throughout much of the area will be challenging due to floodwaters and substantial damage to roads and interstate highways.
In order to help the victims of the disaster, DNV has donated $ 100.000 to the North American Red Cross, and as a follow-up of a partnership agreement with Red Cross, offered the assistance of DNV personnel with special competence in providing clean water.
