DNV SeaSkill was created to respond to the needs of shipowners and managers for a globally certified system for evaluating competence of officers and crew.

DNV’s decision to launch the Seaskill system in the Philippines recognizes the fact that the Philippines continues to be the world’s major supplier of seafarers.

Mr. Carlos Salinas, President of Philcamsat and Mr. Henk Akse, General Manager of personnel certification of DNV in Rotterdam signed the agreement in Makati City on behalf of their respective organisations in the presence of various government and private sector representatives.

People Fit for Purpose” summarizes this new partnership between Philcamsat and DNV SeaSkill which shall assure that the seas remain safe with competent and qualified officers and crew.

Through the examination developed by DNV’s panel of experts from all over the world, Seaskill will further enhance and improve the performance onboard the vessels.

DNV chose Philcamsat
“Through its commitment to excellence in learning and professionalism, it is not a surprise that DNV chose Philcamsat to be its first test center in the Philippines”, says Henk Akse of DNV in Rotterdam.

Philcamsat assures DNV that it will administer these examinations with integrity. Since 1998, Philcamsat has created its niche in the maritime training industry not only in conducting mandatory upgrading courses but more importantly, in developing courses which respond to specific client requirements. It has also developed and conducted simulator based assessments which have provided valuable feedback on the behaviors of officers during times of crisis. With DNV SeaSkill, PHILCAMSAT shall now be able to provide to its clientele a valuable tool in determining the capabilities and training needs of officers and crew.
