DNV is to certify four new offshore wind farm projects in the U.K., Netherlands, Denmark and Germany. The contracts confirm DNV's world leading position in this market.

Certification of offshore wind farms and wind turbine projects in general continues to grow as a DNV service. The contracts now signed cover project certification and risk assessment for offshore wind farm project activities for the following companies:
- National Wind Power (U.K.)
- EON (Germany)
- Shell Renewables/Nuon (NL)
- Global Renewable Energy Partners (UK/DK)
The wind turbines selected for these projects will be among the largest offshore wind turbines currently in operation. In particular Vestas V90/3MW (Denmark) and GE Wind (US/Germany) with their 3.6 MW turbine seems to have got a strong hold on the offshore wind market at present, according to Jan Behrendt Ibsø, Market Director and responsible for the development of DNV’s wind turbine activities worldwide. GE Wind is owned and backed up by General Electrics.
Apart from offshore wind farm projects in these countries, Belgium, France, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, the U.S. and Spain are coming up with offshore wind farm projects in the near future, as well.
