Biorisk+Management

Biorisk can be defined as the application of risk management in areas where the principal hazard is a biological agent. The BRM programme is transferring knowledge and understanding from other areas of risk management and combining these with new thinking and approaches to managing the risks associated with biological organisms.

Biorisk is a wide term encompassing areas as diverse as food, air and water safety, genetically modified organisms, biotechnology, biological laboratories, biological pollution, bio-terrorism, transportation and destruction of potentially infected animals, and animal diseases such as BSE.

The main objective of this programme is to strengthen our biorisk knowledge and networks while also developing biorisk specific methodologies and tools to help our customers effectively manage the biorisks that they face.

Food Biorisk

Can you trust the quality and safety of the food you buy or sell? What is the best way to ensure that the food we eat meets the standards of quality and safety we expect?

Laboratory Biorisk Management

Biological containment laboratories are critical for vaccine development, diagnostic work as well as basic research into human, animal and plant pathogens. Laboratories wishing to operate safely and responsibly must implement management systems that ensure appropriate biorisk controls are identified and implemented.
