The Council is one of the governing bodies of the Norwegian Foundation Det Norske Veritas, the parent company of the DNV Group.
The Council’s main functions are to supervise the activities of the Foundation, to elect the Chairman and the non-executive directors of the Board of Directors, to approve amendments to the DNV Statutes and to decide on the remuneration to be paid to members of the governing bodies of DNV.
The Council has 40 members who represent customers and other stakeholders. 27 members are appointed directly by organisations nominated in the DNV statues, 7 are appointed by the Council itself and six members are elected by and among the DNV employees globally. The membership structure ensures that no single stakeholder group has decisive control. 27.5% of the Council members are women.
The Council meets twice a year and has two subcommittees; the Control Committee and the Election Committee. The functions of the subcommittees are described in the DNV statutes.
