The partnership is founded on the exchange of competence. As well as gaining financial support to defined projects, the Red Cross will benefit from DNV’s expertise in core areas such as risk management, goal setting and reporting.
Water and sanitation in China
DNV has since 2005 supported Red Cross water and sanitation projects in Yanbian Prefecture, Jilin Province in the North-Eastern part of China close to the border to North Korea. DNV Region Greater China is in the lead of this effort.
The project goal has been to improve the health of the villagers of Longhe Village though improved water and sanitation facilities and health education.
Water and sanitation in Vietnam - Phu Tho province
DNV has supported a Water & Sanitation Project implemented in the Phu Tho province, 130km from Hanoi. The project aims to improve health and living conditions of the targeted communities through a range of activities.
Van Chan district
In this new project DNV are supporting construction of the water system is at Lenh village, Son Thinh commune, Van Chan district. 20 cows have been provided for 43 families and thanks to the trainings on cow breeding, the villagers now know how to raise their cows with the right techniques and in a sanitary manner.
Improving the living conditions in the favelas in Brazil
DNV are financially supporting a new project training of health and security in the favelas in Brazil. Children, mothers and disabled people are the main target groups for these health activities. Through the program, the users get access to information and special treatment if required.
Competence exchange on human rights
Representatives from the Red Cross have given courses in international human rights for DNV employees.
Competence Exchange on Risk Management - pro bono
Norway
DNV has provided in-kind services on risk management to the Norwegian Red Cross worth NOK 500,000.
Belize
DNV Brazil carried out a project risk assessment for the Red Cross in Belize in March 2010.
