The purpose of the management trainee programme is to attract highly qualified young business graduates with development potential to meet our long-term need for qualified employees.

The Goal for you, as a trainee, is to build competence within the areas of Business Control, General Accounting, Systems & Processes and Human Resources Management. In addition a programme like this offers a unique opportunity for each trainee to gain comprehensive understanding of the critical challenges in DNV from different perspectives in the company.

This is an on–the–job training programme and we seek to individually design each programme based on each trainee’s qualifications and desires. The programme runs up to 24 months and consists in most cases of three separate rotations. During the first month in the company the trainees will spend about a month completing an induction and general training period in Corporate Controllership. The trainees will be expected to complete the DNV Induction programme in-line with the mandatory requirement placed upon all new DNV employees.

Following this first introductory period the trainees will complete three 6 - 10 months rotations at different levels in the organisation and to a certain extent at different locations.

The goal is to give each trainee the opportunity to complete one of these periods at the corporate level in the organisation, one period at Business Area level in one of DNV’s four Business Areas and another period in a more operative unit outside the trainee’s home country.

Given the nature of DNV’s business and how the company is structured it is critical to constantly recruit qualified individuals with a strong desire for an international career within the company. This programme is part of DNV’s overall recruitment policy and is meant to fill key administrative and financial positions in the company world-wide. Consequently it is of great importance that successful candidates are interested in living and working abroad for three years or more as part of their career in DNV.

Management trainees in DNV are expected to play an active part in monitoring his/her own progress and performance throughout the duration of the programme. Regular communication between the trainee, relevant line manager and programme coordinator will take place to allow reviews of the progress being made. This is normally done at the end of each training block.
