How can DNV assist us in ISM training of our personnel?
We offer a range of courses and customised training packages to ensure that you have the necessary competence to handle the requirements of the ISM Code. All our courses can be customised depending on customer needs, e.g. a 5 day combined implementation and internal auditor course.
To agree on ISM training, contact your local DNV office.
Our standard courses are:
ISM Code Implementation: A 2 days course (may be extended to 3 days if requested) providing knowledge about the development and intention of the ISM Code, the requirements and interpretations as well as implementation strategies and how it will affect shipping companies.
ISM Internal Auditor: A 2-3 day course for personnel who needs to qualify as an internal auditor or would like to know more about this subject, e.g.: safety and quality co-ordinators in shipping companies, DPA’s (Designated Person Ashore) and technical personnel. Upon completion the participants will have gained knowledge about the requirements for internal audits and be familiar with procedures, auditing tools and techniques.
Maritime Accident Investigation and Analysis: The ISM code section 9 requires the company system to include procedures for incident investigation and analysis. This course will assist ships officers, safety and quality co-ordinators, operational managers and similar involved with safety and accident investigation. The course content includes topic like: causes and effects of loss, how to conduct an effective investigation, how to carry out the analysis and implement and verify remedial actions as well as use of databases for feedback and continuous improvement. This course is also suitable for representatives of marine authorities and other organisations involved with accident investigation in shipping.
Practical Marine Risk Assessment: A 1 day course for both office and sea going personnel at all levels which provides information on regulations, business application and swift hazard identification technique. It also contains links to the ISM Code, cost benefit assessment, risk matrices, risk ranking and risk criteria.
