Design approval is a case-by-case approval of the design and is usually made for one specific manufacturing assignment which may include a defined number of equipment.
The design is evaluated with respect to structural strength and material qualities according to DNV's rules.
We carry out Plan approval in the following fields:

- Life- and rescue boat launching appliances
- Anchor winches/ windlasses
- Anchors
- Winches
- Loose gear
- Personnel lifts/ elevators
Type approval is offered as an alternative to case- by -case approval for the whole equipment or parts of it for unlimited and unspecified manufacturing orders within an agreed time window.
Some customers order design reviews as a separate concluded service. The result will be confirmed in a Design Verification Report (DVR). We also offer the DVR`s to be based on standards or codes other than DNV's, and on national authorities requirement.
