Main- and emergency switchboard shall be delivered with a DNV Product Certificate regardless of rating. Certification of main- and emergency switchboards is based on design assessment and product survey.

Design assessment

Design assessment shall be carried out prior to the product survey. The following documentation is typically to be submitted for approval:

• Electrical data sheet.
• Bus bar strength calculations (if designed short circuit strength > 50 kA).
• Switchboard layout.
• Single line diagrams.
• Switchgear rating document.
• Functional description.
• Schematic diagrams.

Product survey

At the manufacturer’s works, a survey of the switchboard is performed as a part of the certification process. The survey normally includes:

• Visual inspection.
• Function tests.
• Insulation resistance test.
• High voltage test.
