Electric motors rated above 100 kW shall be delivered with a DNV Product Certificate. For ratings between 100 kW and 300 kW type approval certificates and works certificate is accepted as an alternative to a DNV Product Certificate.

Certification is based on product survey, only. No documentation is to be submitted for approval.

Product survey

Survey of electric motors includes visual inspections and tests. Both type tests (prototype tests) and routine tests are required. Please refer to DNV rules Pt.4 Ch.8 Sec.5 C for details.
