Distribution switchboards, motor starters, motor control centres etc, rated above 100 kVA shall be delivered with DNV Product Certificates.

Certification is based on design assessment and product survey.

Design assessment

Design assessment should be carried out prior to the product survey. The following documentation is typically to be submitted for approval:

• Electrical data sheet.
• Single line diagrams.
• Switchgear rating document.
• Schematic diagrams.

Product survey

A survey of the switchboard at the manufacturer’s works is performed as a part of the certification process. The survey normally includes:

• Visual inspection.
• Function tests.
• Insulation resistance test.
• High voltage test.
