Component+certification

Component certification means issuing a DNV certificate stating that the component complies with the requirements of DNV rules. For the most important components onboard DNV classed vessels, DNV component certification is mandatory.

In most cases, componet certification takes both a design review and a survey/witness of testing of the component.
DNV also offers certification of components with reference to other standards than DNV rules, when this is required by the customer or otherwise agreed with DNV.

If you want your component to be certified by DNV, you should:

  • Familiarise yourself with the relevant DNV rules.
  • Make sure that the planned design and manufacturing complies to rule requirements.
  • Call nearest DNV office to arrange verification of compliance.
