Ship type class notation for the carriage of oil products in bulk.
To ensure compliance with requirements applicable to ships with integrated tanks intended to carry oil products except crude oil in bulk. The class notation is mandatory for vessels carrying such cargo.
DNV is the leading Class Society for the classification of oil tankers and has taken part in the development of CSR rules for oil tankers. A network of competent approval engineers and site and SIO surveyors ensure compliance with the rules and thereby increased safety and a reduced risk of operational problems.
The ship type class notation covers specific requirements to hull strength, stability, piping systems, electrical installations, instrumentation and automation, fire protection as appropriate to carry oil products in bulk. A list of relevant cargoes that may be carried is given in Rules Pt. 5 Ch. 3 Appendix A.
Approval is carried out at responsible approval centre. Site survey is carried out at the building yard and its suppliers. Periodical survey is carried out on-board vessel.
The notation is assigned upon survey reports verifying compliance with the Rules.
