Class notation for Bulk Carriers.
The class notation covers the evaluation of hull structure and ship systems in accordance with DNV rule requirements for bulk carriers, which include Common Structural Rules (CSR) for bulk carriers. Bulk Carriers are to be subject to an enhanced inspections programme. Bulk Carrier ESP (Enhanced Survey Programme) is a mandatory class notation for Bulk Carries as defined in SOLAS IX, Reg. 1.6 and IACS UR Z11.
In addition, the class notation covers the Enhanced Survey Programme according to SOLAS XI-1, Reg. 2, in accordance with the guidelines adopted by IMO.
DNV is a leading class society and well known for its expertise and service ability related to classification of all ship types. This notation makes the vessel safer and reduces the risk for port state detentions.
The class notation Bulk Carrier ESP is assigned following survey reports that verify compliance with the Rules. Approval is carried out at the responsible approval centre. The site survey is carried out at the newbuilding yard and its suppliers' premises. The periodical survey is carried out on board the vessel.
