Class notation for ships with cargo holds strengthened for grab handling.
This class notation is intended to prevent cargo holds from being damaged by grabs during the loading and unloading of bulk cargoes.
By obtaining the IB-X notation, the customer will improve the safety of the vessel and increase the strength of the cargo hold area that is exposed to rough treatment by loading and discharging equipment.
Depending on the area strengthened, the ship will be assigned the class notation IB-1, IB-2 or IB-3, where:
IB-1 covers strengthening of the inner bottom
IB-2 covers strengthening of the inner bottom and the lower part of the transverse bulkheads
IB-3 covers strengthening of the inner bottom and the lower part of the transverse and longitudinal bulkheads
