Plan+approval

Plan approval of your newbuilding design is part of the basis for issuing a class certificate. Approved drawings are the basis for DNV GL newbuilding surveys.

The approval includes a thorough evaluation of all main drawings, such as scantlings, systems and installations to such an extent that the design fully complies with international mandatory requirements, Flag State requirements as well as the DNV or GL Classification Rules.

Copies of the main final approved drawings are kept at DNV GL throughout the vessel's lifetime.

Added convenience : Web-based eApproval and globe

eApproval through DNV Exchange or GL’s online document exchange, globe, provide an holistic approach to electronic drawing approval by combining the communication possibilities of the web with easy reuse of electronic drawings and the quality control of a modern document management system.

With eApproval or globe, you can upload documentation for approval, have continuous access to the status of your submitted documents, and download approved documents – all at the same time and with the same tool anywhere in the world.

eApproval and globe services cover:

  • Newbuildings, certification of materials and components and extensive conversion projects, enabling electronic approval, i.e. the process of exchanging, reviewing and approving technical documents by electronic means

  • A faster, more efficient and secure exchange of documents and drawings with DNV or GL

  • Easy access and overview of documentation status

  • Less paper consumption and correspondence time, and the associated costs are significantly reduced

How eApproval and globe work

  1. You simply access the service through a secure Web environment within DNV Exchange or GL Tools and upload electronic drawings and calculations to our servers – making them available in the respective approval centre.

  2. At the approval centre, document control is maintained – approval engineers can add comments, stamp the drawings and return them electronically.
