Ice+load+monitoring

Evaluation of the actual load on the hull is identified as one of the major uncertainties when operation ships in ice

Ice Breaker

Ice loads exceeding the design load specified in the actual class notation is a major risk for the hull and may cause permanent damage to the hull and interrupt operation. The ILM project develops a system for measuring the actual load on the hull and displaying the utilisation factor of the hull structure before yield (permanent damage). The project also includes development of a system for presentation of metocean data on the electronic charts in the bridge system, contributing to more safe and effective operation.
