Primarily established to support the local cruise industry where Norwegian Cruise Lines is operating two US Flag passenger vessels, one Bahamas flagged vessel, and one US Flag newbuilding – Pride of Hawaii – delivered in April 2006.

However, with frequent oil tanker calls to Hawaii’s two refineries there is a great potential for surveys and audits during the normal two-three day discharge period. Also, Hawaii’s crystal clear water is a perfect place for in-water bottom surveys. Support for other US Flag vessels, such as the car carrier Jean Anne, who regularly call in Hawaii is an option and may help DNV in pursuing other US ship owners to use DNV for classification services. The US-Army and US-Navy also have charters on DNV Classed Incat high speed light craft and these vessels are calling at Hawaii and have scheduled surveys to be carried out.

The Honolulu office is a one-man office with Herman de Jong as Station Manager. He was previously in Miami and Jacksonville offices.
