
With the first Norwegian ships appearing in the East Mediterranean, DNV’s Board of Directors on 16 August 1921 decided to create a representative office in Greece.

DNV’s Greek Committee has played an important role in DNV’s growth in Greece. The Committee met in Piraeus on 24 February this year.
After a considerable growth the past years, the total number of DNV employees in Greece is close to 60. Greek surveyors are now serving Greek owners worldwide. DNV in Piraeus has established a Maritime Academy for external training, with more than 3,000 participants in over 200 highly technical/managerial courses.
