DNV Turku has agreed with Aker Finnyards to classify Color Line’s two new fast passenger day ferries. The building contract is worth approximately Euro 250 million. The two vessels will be delivered by Aker Finnyards’ Rauma yard by the end of 2007 and in the spring of 2008.

Color Line will use the new ferries between Hirtshals in Denmark and Kristiansand and Larvik in Norway.
The working title ‘Color Superspeed’ indicates that the ferries are designed for a high service speed, 27 knots.
The ferries will be approximately 211m long and 26m wide, and will have a draft of 6.55m. Each of the ferries can transport up to 2km of heavy-goods vehicles, 3.9km of cars and 1,928 passengers.
Onboard, there will be restaurants, shops and electronic booking systems for onshore attractions, hotel check-ins, etc.
The Kristiansand–Hirtshals voyage will take three hours and 15 minutes (currently four hours and 30 minutes) while the Larvik–Hirtshals voyage will take three hours and 45 minutes (currently five hours and 30 minutes).
