A spring in the step

The US shipping industry is upbeat once more following the fallow years that immediately followed 9/11. Even Wall St views the industry with growing optimism.

An American view

DNV has been represented in the Americas since 1868, four years after DNV was established in Oslo, Norway, initially with an agent, and with a permanent office in New York from 1898. Since then, DNV has grown and developed its services to meet the increasing demands of our customers and other stakeholders in the Americas.

Cyprus committee established

The first meeting of the DNV Cyprus Technical Committee took place on 20 January 2005 in Limassol, Cyprus. The committee was established to ensure a dialogue between DNV and the important and fast-growing Cyprus-based shipping community.

DNV establishes German Technical Committee

To further its commitment to the German market, DNV has now established a German Technical Committee - the first meeting of which was recently held in Hovik, Norway.

DNV Maritime head beats competence drum

It will have an impact on shipyards, offshore platforms, manufacturers and other third-party sites. World's largest LNG carriers to be classed by DNV

New York-based Overseas Shipholding Group, one of the premier energy transportation companies in the world, together with its partner Qatar Gas Transport Company, has recently signed a contract for the largest LNG carriers on order to date. Two of these 216,000m3 vessels will be constructed at Hyundai Heavy Industries and two at Samsung Heavy Industries - all four will be built to DNV class.
