Over 30 representatives from 14 Chinese companies attended the course in Shanghai.

“DNV has played a central role in the development of the common structural rules and we are now scaling up our operations in China to assist our clients in implementing the rules for their upcoming hull development projects,” says Bjørn K. Haugland, regional manager for DNV Maritime Greater China.

The four-day course in Shanghai included a detailed presentation of the new rules followed by hands-on training on rule scantling analysis, fatigue analysis, and finite element cargo hold analysis in Nauticus Hull. Extra focus was put on result analysis and comparison between the new and old hull rules.

The next training course for the new common structural rules is taking place at the DNV Academy in Dalian, 25–28 October.
