The Korea Shipbuilders’ Association (KOSHIPA) stated a preference for DNV’s Nauticus Hull software, in its review of the IACS common structural rules now being developed for tankers. First released in March, the software has been updated and now supports the second draft of the common structural rules.

The comments from the Korea Shipbuilders’ Association is a clear indication that DNV is taking the lead in providing software in support of the current IACS (International Association of Classification Societies) common structural rules effort.
“For DNV, this is a great encouragement and the best motivation for further software development and implementation. The schedule for rules review is indeed tight and puts great demand on the yard’s design offices for review, and on DNV to provide the software tools that are needed. Our efforts will therefore be concentrated on delivering effective software with high quality, on time,” says Elling Rishoff, managing director of DNV Software.
DNV Software will continue the development to ensure that support for the new rules becomes a permanent part of Nauticus Hull in good time before the rules are official and put in force. An extensive comparison study has been performed by ABS, DNV and LR to ensure consistency and rectify any discrepancies in the software.
