DNV recently secured its 300th newbuilding order this year. The all-time-high figure represents 26 percent of all tonnage contracted worldwide.

Lion's share: Most of the newbuilding orders have been placed in Korea, including the 300th which was recently contracted at the Samsung yard.

Says head of newbuilding Johan-Petter Tutturen: "We are most satisfied that we have secured our 300th newbuilding order. We now have a leading market share among the classification societies."

According to Tutturen, DNV's high figures have been achieved due to a very strong presence in Korea, China, Croatia, and region Nordic Baltic including Poland. A significant number of the orders have been for Aframax and Suezmax tankers.

In addition to the contracts placed by Nordic shipowners, DNV is achieving a good number of newbuilding contracts with shipowners in Asia, the Mediterranean, and the Middle East.
