Greek shipping has a history spanning 10,000 years. The first documented freight from Milos island to the Peloponese dates back to 8000 BC. Today 3,618 ships totalling over 168 million dwt are owned by Greeks, some 18.6 % of the world fleet capacity. 17% of this tonnage is now to DNV Class.

Integration
This is the result of how we view classification and interact with our customers. We do not merely consider classification as issuing certificates to verify ship construction and operation in accordance with Rules and Statutory Requirements. We believe it is a partnership with our customers. We have changed classification from annual transactions into an ongoing relationship where class is a predictable, integrated part of the operations of our customers.

Uniformity
In our efforts to offer better services to Greek shipping, DNV has established the role of dedicated Customer Service Managers. They are the single point of contact with DNV and ensure that our customers receive uniform, top-quality services worldwide. Their main task is to assist our customers to plan major surveys and to act as a liaison with Flag and Port Administrations.
