Fleet status in DNV per year-end 2001 shows one of the best results ever with a growth of 5.4%.
According to Ragnar Hansen, Marketing Director, the reasons behind the good results are due to newbuilding deliveries and a positive net balance on class transfers.The DNV classed tonnage consists of 4,780 ocean-going vessels over 100 grt equal to 89.7 mill grt. 206 newbuildings of 4,3 mill grt were delivered with DNV class during the past year.
135 vessels of 3.4 mill grt were transferred to DNV from IACS and non-IACS members whilst 98 vessels of 1.26 mill grt were transferred from DNV to other IACS and non-IACS societies.
67 vessels were deleted from DNV class due to overdue surveys or overdue conditions of class, and 49 were deleted on owners request due to scrapping.
