Credit for quality in container operations

The container-ship industry requires cost-effective survey methods and no disruption of the ships’ schedules. DNV now offers fewer cost-effective class surveys in favour of the owner’s inspections and follow-up routines.

DNV’s unique hydrodynamic tool

DNV-SWAN is now implemented as the main tool for hydrodynamic analysis to be used for any vessel type and speed.

Global Vibration Analyses

The objective is to investigate whether specified vibration levels onboard a vessel are expected to be met and prevent structure to be in resonance with main excitation sources.

Nauticus on board

Customers are given direct access to DNV’s accumulated knowledge and experience by integrating the products and services into a single, comprehensive system, the Nauticus on board concept.

Redefining the value of Classification

In today’s competitive business environment, the needs of our customers in shipping are changing. Through the introduction of our new classification service concept Nauticus on board, we have endeavoured to create a platform from which to take ship classification to another level.

Reduced air pollution from ships

The first international agreement to reduce harmful emissions to air from the world merchant fleet was adopted by IMO in an annex of 1997. Although it is not yet ratified, it has already had a considerable impact on the shipping industry.

Striking the balance of safety and economy

In the wake of serious ship losses during the past 15 years, a risk-based approach to identify hazards is on the agenda in IMO, IACS and DNV. Applying Formal Safety Assessment provides a means of identifying and considering possible hazards in the design or operation of ships in a systematic and cost-effective way to prevent future losses.
