DNV has won the Sea Trade Award in the Innovation in Ship Operations class this year. The award was given for DNV Navigator, a software system that makes bureaucracy easier for captains.

The system helps captains to keep in order all the papers that are necessary when a ship calls into port, including navigation papers, crew lists, overviews of the cargo, grey water and ballast water, and other information required by the port authorities. All this is intended to enhance the safety of the ship and its crew. The system is based on a unique checklist for each port and contains information relating to the respective port authorities.
Owners from Norway, Cyprus and Germany are showing particular interest in the new system, with 125 contracts signed in the past month alone.
