DNV has been awarded the SeaTrade award in the category Innovation in Ship Operations.

The SeaTrade Award highlights and recognises the industry’s efforts to improve maritime standards, and to award those at the forefront of new thinking and innovation.
DNV Navigator is a computer-based tool that relieves the bridge team’s workload, safeguards ship operations and reduces cost and risk. The information it contains is updated weekly via emails to the ships.
DNV Navigator contains information about requirements relating to navigation, security, waste and ballast-water reporting and how to report to port authorities. The information is broken down into specific topics for each port, and is an important tool for the crew when entering new waters.
The new tool includes unique checklists specific for each port and the different report forms required by port state authorities in 143 countries. It also contains a separate security module that meets the recording and reporting requirements of the ISPS Code.
“DNV Navigator meets both today’s and future requirements as to electronic port clearance,” says Peik Jenssen, DNV’s marketing director. He and Ove Strømsholm, the main contributor behind the new product, represented DNV at the award ceremony.
