
London: DNV has developed a new pipeline concept, called X-Stream, that can significantly reduce the cost of a deep- and ultra-deepwater gas pipeline while still complying with the strictest safety and integrity regime. X-Stream is based on established and field-proven technologies which have been innovatively arranged.
The Lloyd’s List Global Award for the shipping industry’s best innovation project 2011 was won by DNV. At a ceremony last night at the London Hilton Hotel, Chief Operating Officer Ioannis Kourmatzis accepted the award on behalf of DNV.
Oslo, 10 August: today DNV’s summer students presented the results of seven weeks of intense and targeted work with a concept for year-round drilling and exploration offshore north-east Greenland. More than anything their work unfolded a massive need for new technologies, improved standards and increased arctic research. Shanghai: The new generation of 10,000 TEU container vessels contracted by Seaspan represents major improvements in energy efficiency, cargo capacity, operational efficiency and emission reductions. The order for seven 10,000 TEU container vessels plus 18 options is the biggest ever container contract entered into in China. The vessels will be built to DNV class.

Gothenburg: Stena RoRo has become the first operator to sign a contract for DNV’s new Triple-E rating. Triple-E is an environmental and energy efficiency rating scheme for ships which helps ship operators to stay at the forefront with regard to green shipping rules and regulations.

The US Coast Guard issues regulations to ensure maritime safety. USCG Commandant Bob Papp is interviewed in DNV’s corporate magazine Forum: “To be sure, we have prescriptive regulations, such as many of the lifesaving and fire protection regulations, but we are moving more towards performance based regulations,” he says.

London: By introducing a new solution for LNG-fuelled ships, DNV and MAN Diesel & Turbo are taking the Quantum concept ship one stroke further. Both the machinery and the hull design and arrangement have been improved.

DNV will shortly issue the first ISDS (Integrated Software Dependent Systems) class certificate to Dolphin Drilling. Several major rig owners are now requesting the ISDS notation on newbuilds. DNV is working to prepare yards and suppliers worldwide to deliver to the ISDS requirements.
Rotterdam: Rotterdam’s Gate terminal will be the first LNG import terminal in The Netherlands and DNV is assisting the developers to meet the safety and regulatory requirements set for this landmark project.

Singapore-based DNV Petroleum Services now uses DHL’s GOGREEN Carbon Neutral shipping services.
Together with partners in the MARLEN project, DNV recently completed the development of a supply chain performance tool for calculating the environmental impact and energy efficiency of maritime logistics chains.

DNV Petroleum Services launched its testing service on Jan. 1, 1981. The company has tested 1.4 million fuel samples since then.
