Success: The “Must Win” battleDNV has used the insight of top management thinkers to plot the next stage in its development. In order to better support customer needs and achieve profitable and sustainable growth, we aim to: • Grow global sales in a small number of focused markets • Share competencies and experiences • Innovate to create enhanced solutions for customers To help DNV senior managers balance these strategic goals and daily needs, our recent strategy workshops, drew on the change management thinking of Peter Killing, professor of strategy and international management at IMD Business School at Lausanne at Switzerland, Professor Killing says successful organisations must go through a “journey” of “must win” battles that build necessary energy and shared commitment for success. DNV believes that such a journey can benefit its customers. The process typically involves the following stages: • A small group identifies that the status quo needs to change • It identifies the organisation’s current status • It commits to winning key battles • Battles are cascaded throughout the organisation • “Silo” thinking is broken down – fostering cross function, cross geography and cross business co-operation • Battles are won. Our strategy sessions identified DNV’s “must win” battles to better service customers and secure growth – and this means innovation in our business models, delivery as well as products and services. We know from the successes we have already achieved that DNV IT Global Services has the type of expert personnel, sector experience and strategic focus to succeed in our own “must win” battles in the years ahead – as well as those of our customers. We look forward to joint success, Yours sincerely Annie Combelles |
